We had our board meeting yesterday and we got quite a bit accomplished. As you can tell we have added the buttons above to allow you to make reservations for dinner and to pay via paypal.

We are trying out a new home for the Guild Meetings – The Indianapolis Propylaeum. The venue is private, we are the only ones there. It is also centrally located, has private parking, and the food is awesome. It also fits our budget.

There was a mistake – I thought that we didn’t need to make meal choices, we actually do, so use the button above to make your reservation.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be updating the website again – no major changes, just more and better stuff. Remember to send me images so we can start doing galleries.

Delaware – Tuesday March 6th At 6PM – No Board Meeting – Board Meetings Will Be Held On A Different Day For The Rest Of The Year So All Board Members Can Attend.

Speaker Will Be Brian Morrison From Illinois – If You Don’t Think Is Program Is Significant Ask Yourself One Question – Do You Have All Of The Business You Need, Or Could You Use A Few More Clients This Year??

Brian Morrison is the owner of Brian Morrison Photography, located in Glenview, IL, a northern suburb of Chicago. Brian’s primary areas of work includes weddings, events, portraits and commercial. His corporate clients have included numerous Fortune 500 companies across a wide range of industries. Brian’s personal and business philosophy is that every client deserves great light in their photos.

Brian received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Professional Photographer and currently serves on the executive board of the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Illinois (PPANI). His work has won awards including numerous Best of Show and best of category, and a 2011 Kodak Gallery Award. Brian was named an Illinois Top 10 Photographer of the year and received the Northern Achievement Award for Photographic Excellence from PPANI in 2011, the highest award that the assocation confers for success in photographic competition.

Program info:

Most photographers who have even a passing interest in their online presence have heard of WordPress, the popular “blog” platform. If you think it’s just a blog, you’re missing out – it would be much more accurate to think of WordPress as a complete solution for your entire website. An increasing number of photographers (as well as many businesses in other industries) are turning to WordPress to be the backbone of their online presence, replacing their current websites with ones that are more secure, easier to manage, and easier to update with new content and features.

During this program, you can learn:
• Just what is WordPress, anyways? And how do I set it up?
• Why our current Flash-based websites are quickly becoming a relic of the past.
• What are “themes” and how do I find one that works for me and my business?
• What is “open source” software? Why would I want to use it?
• What are “plugins”, and how do I use them in my website? Can you tell us some good ones?
• How do I navigate the administrative “back end” of the site and work with my content?
• Easy to implement backup solutions that protects your content from data loss.
• How do I move my current site to WordPress?
• How do I integrate my WordPress site with Facebook, Twitter and Google+?
• Why a WordPress site can be very good for search engine rankings.
• What if I don’t think I can handle this by myself?
• Watch as we build a new, custom site in real time!

This One is A Full Meal!! So As We Agreed At The Last Couple Of Meetings This One IS $35 For Members $65 For Non-Members

Choose From The Following

Signature Chicken
Mango Glazed Pork Loin
Linguini with Roasted Veggies

MAKE YOUR RESERVATION HERE

Also Included
Hearty Salad
Fresh Green Beans
Roasted Red Potatoes
Mini Cup Cake
ice tea, coffee, lemonade
Cash bar for $5 wine and $5 Beer

As of February 2012 the price for a non member attending an IPPG function will be a flat $65.00 If you have not joined the guild – do so NOW!!!!! The price increase for non-members is necessary to keep the cost the same for the members and to allow the guild to continue to provide top notch education to it’s members. The cost to join is VERY reasonable – please support the organization and join or renew!

The January 3rd Meeting will be at Studio K Photography – 455 Greenwood Park Drive South, Greenwood Indiana. If you are putting the address into a GPS it is better to use 452 Fry Road, Greenwood Indiana. Our phone number is 317-882-9500 if there are questions or if you need assistance to find us. Studio K has a new facility, but it is rather small. I would say 25 people tops. We are going to split up the training part, we can get 5 or 6 people that are interested in projection sales / using proselect to do sales, and 20 or so in the studio. I am planning to have a live fashion shoot for the studio part. We HAVE NOT CONFIRMED THE FASHION SHOOT YET!! If we don’t do the fashion shoot we will have some sort of live shoot, maybe with some video added in. The studio visits are always amazing, so sign up early, we may have to cap this one!!

The cost for this one is going to be $25, non-members may use the same price as members for this meeting, but remember, February 2012 it all changes for non-members!

It is imperative that you sign up in advance for this meeting! We will not allow walk-ins if we have over 30 registered – there will be no place to put them!!! So if you don’t pre-register you are taking your chances!!

There is no meal choice for this meeting – we will have something catered in. So send me an email at info@studiokphoto.com, call me at 317-882-9500, to register. There is no form to fill out this time – just email, or call, and you are good to go! Use the pay pal button or send a check pay.

Checks go to the new Registration Director

The board of the Indianapolis Professional Photographers Guild wishes everyone a great holiday season and a happy and prosperous new year.

At the December meeting I promised to make some changes in the way the guild operates, and one of those changes is to keep the membership better informed, and keep an open line of communications between the members and the board. This message is the first step to a better IPPG in 2012.

The first promise was to fix the website, as you can see, significant progress has been made. For the first time since I took it over, the website really looks good and functions well. We will continue to do upgrades and add more functionality as the year goes on.

The second promise was to find a new venue. I am actively seeking a new meeting facility and will keep everyone informed of the progress. To give us a little more time to get organized, we will be having the January meeting at my studio and there will be no meeting for February. So to all of the members sick of Italian – there is hope for 2012. We do listen, progress is sometimes slow.

We are working on the Paypal thing, I am disabling all Paypal stuff until we get it all back up in place. We will also be adding an option to pay with a credit card – all should be ready for the March meeting, again I will keep everyone informed as we make progress.

We will be posting the meeting information in the next couple of days – bear with us as we get all of the new changes working properly. Also remember the President’s assignment is snow – so pray for a little around the Holidays!

Thanks for all of your support last year – 2012 will be the best year ever for IPPG!

Sincerely
Ken Kneringer

WALKABOUT WEDDINGS:
If you are stuck in a rut with your wedding photography or bored by doing the same things over and over, then it is time to clear your creative cobwebs and find a new direction in your photography by doing a wedding walkabout. The term “walkabout” is derived from the spiritual journey undertaken by Australian aborigines to “find themselves”. I’ve applied the term both figuratively and literally to my wedding program. If you are stuck in a rut, sometimes you need to step back, clear your mind and open yourself to new ideas and new directions. Take a little professional and personal walkabout to get recharged. I also literally apply this concept to every wedding that I do: I do a walkabout reconnaissance of the area, looking for unique, unexpected, dramatic, or cool spots to take the bride and groom and create my Urban Chic style of fashion inspired images. These serve to set my work apart from the competition and more importantly appeal to today’s brides. And you don’t need to be in a big city to create this look; the necessary elements appear everywhere, even in the most rural of areas.
So blow your creative didgeridoo and get ready for a walkabout to transform your wedding photography.
